Hello, this is Tomo.
Until the end of July, 2013, I worked as a manager at "melonpan" bakery located right in front the North Exit of the Shimo-Takaido Station on the "Keio Line".
While we were building our store during the summer of 2011, "RAMEN HIDE" was one of our choices for lunch.
It is located on the South side of the Shimo-Takaido Station.
It is quite far from the station, and takes about 15 minutes walk.
Don't give up and keep walking until you find a place with a red big lantern outside.
Please READ THIS CAREFULLY!!
The place is surprisingly small!!
At "RAMEN HIDE", you can choose from 3 different types of soup.
My personal favorite is the "white", a pork bone broth soup.
Others are other types of soup, "red (spicy miso)" and "black (roasted garlic oil)".
You can also choose how thick the soup and noodles are.
I always order "KOTTERI (thicker soup)" and "KATAME (hard-boiled noodles)".
They use straight noodles for both their "RAMEN" and "TSUKEMEN (dipping noodle)".
Some people might hesitate the strong smell of the pork bone broth, however; you don't smell that much from the soup itself.
Yes, it is thick soup, but the after taste is much lighter than it looks.
The roasted pork on the ramen is so soft as it's gonna melt in your mouth.
You don't need your teeth to eat it.
During lunch hours (11:00-17:00), you can get a bowl of rice for free if you want.
You can choose from 5 different types of rice menu with additional 100 yen.
I believe this happened at their other branch, the one in Kyodo, on "Odakyu Line", but their fried rice was REALLY delicioso!!
There is an instruction on the counter tells you how to enjoy rice and ramen together.
Other than Shimo-Takaido and Kyodo locations, they also have a store in Shibuya.
