Do you have Children's Day in your country? Same date?
In Japan, we generally celebrate May 5 as "Children's day", which is one of Japanese national holidays.
The purpose of "Children's day" is to celebrate children's happiness and to respect their individual.
Many parents display "colorful carp banners" and "Kabuto(helmet)" are famous symbol to celebrate "Children's day"
hoping that children will grow up with courage and wisdom!
Traditionally we eat "Kashiwa-mochi" on the day.
Kashiwa-mochi is rice cake wrapped in an oak leaf. Soy bean paste inside.
If you travel in Japan arund 5th May , you can find those items everywhere.
I hope that you can enjoy japanese tradition here!!
