I went to Meiji Shrine for Hatsumoude.
Hatsumoude means New Year's visits to shrines.

Meiji Shrine is right by JR Harajuku station.

Torii (shrine gateway)

Walking for a little while …

People pray for wishes.

Ema (wooden plaque)
People write down their wishes on the blank side of an ema and hang it in a shrine.

Omamori (charm)
There are a variety of charms, including those for good health, a happy marriage, safe driving, business success and success in an entrance examination.

I bought a omamori for marriage tie.
I hope my wish comes true …

What is your wish for 2011?
